I wasn't very impressed with the beginning of this novel, it started out like any other contemporary book. Girls looks at boy, girls knees go week and she can't take him out of his head - seriously, all of the book I've been reading recently start this exact same way. Luckily the book has enough material on its own to separate itself from other contemporary reads, first - football. I think it's pretty unique and second, Jordan; apart from her swoonish moments she's a pretty unique girl and character, I love that she's a tomboy.
A bit further into the book it has gotten much better, I like Ty and the rest of the guys. I know 70 pages is not much, but it has been enough for me to hate her dad and to assume that Henry likes her - probably also JJ, and probably the rest of the team... I'll stop there.
Conclusion (for the first 70 pages)
So far so good, even if I wasn't all too pleased int he beginning, it picked up the pace and I like where it seems to be going.
Bonus Points
It's one of those books that when you put it down, you keep thinking about it and you just have to continue reading it. I love that in books <3
Now the big question
What were your thoughts when you first started reading
Catching Jordan? :)
My first thoughts were that Jordan is pretty unique. I'm not a sports fan but Jordan's passion definitely pulled me in. It is always sad when a girl feels like she can't do something. I also hated her dad and the way he supports her brother playing football but not her. Good one catching that Henry likes her. I had no idea! I thought he was awesome though and I wanted them to get together.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was that I might not connect with the main character. She has such a different style than other typical female MCs and I wasn't confident that I'd get into it. I didn't need to worry though because I did end up connecting with Jordan. And all the other characters, too.
ReplyDeleteGah, Jude! This book is frustrating me! >.< I agree with both of the girls above!!! Jordan is really unique but at times I want to punch her. Is that too much? Oh well. I hate her Dad too Jennifer! He drives me insane! I get he loves her but he's being a sexist hypocrite. ): I'm anxious to see how this one ends.
ReplyDeleteHaven't started it, but I heard GREAT things about it! It's great that it picked up the pace after! Hope you like it!
