There's this funny thing going around lately, It seems that every review I read or comment about male leading characters in books, all say the same: He's Edward Cullen.
The guy was too possessive. He's Edward! The guy was hot. He's Edward! The guy was mysterious, dark and sexy. He's Edward! He was aggressive and jealous. He's Edward!
He had a penis. He is, without a doubt, Edward.
If they don't say Edward they'll just say Twilight: She had an inexplicable attraction to him. Twilight! It was a rainy day, and in Twilight it rains a lot so it's Twilight by default!
I mean, seriously? Sure, sometimes they do seem a bit too much like the Twilight characters or story, but, as it appears to be, humans share traits and not because you share one or two of them it means you're them! I saw this review where they were complaining on how it was a Twilight copy, small detail they didn't notice: that book was released before Twilight.... yeah, fail.
Suddenly there's all this hate towards Twilight, I'm not a big fan of them, sure, I liked them a lot when they came out - They were the first books I ever read and got me into this world of book loves, of course I'm forever loyal to them and they have a special space in my heart. That does not mean I plan to ever read them again, they were good but I now discovered I have a love for Contemporary novels. The point is that I am suddenly ashamed to say I liked them. Liking the Twilight books it's like saying you listen to Justin Bieber.
Typical jerk guy that sees Justin Bieber in your ipod: "Dude, you listen to that guy?" they say it like it's the dirties thing. And yes, I do have Justin Bieber in my ipod and Twilight in my shelf. So what?
I feel like we're all getting a bit too aggressive in the book world and have been judging too much "You liked the Twilight books? Oh, so you're that kind of reader..."
When there's a book where the guy sparkles and he says a line like 'I'm the lamb and you're the bacon' or whoever it goes, then I will go rant with you. But until then I don't exactly think it's fair - not to the book or character in question and neither to Twilight and Edward, because every time there's a mention of these two, it's to diminish a book. :/
Honestly, they're not all
Omg, I freaking love this post and I agree 100% . By any chance is this in particular about the horrible reviews for Drain You which I happened to like, or just in general?
