On average, I read 3 books a week - well, at least this used to be my average when I was in High School, had no job and not much homework. Now, however, if I read a One Book in Two Weeks I pat my back and congratulate me. This is a problem, just look at the equation:
Books Read = Reviews.
See what I mean?
I love my blog, but I currently don't have a reading pace that can keep up a 'review blog'.
In Between will not be able to survive only on book reviews, so I will be incorporating more things to this blog, both more book related stuff and other little extras.
When I first started blogging I would feature songs and artist I really liked, not sure of why I stopped but I'd like to continue. There's so many bands and great songs and I'm usually discovering lots of little indie groups and artists as well as cover bands, and I think it would be pretty cool to get to share this with you guys.
I really hope this little changes are for the best and in just ten days comes my Blogoversary!!!!! Let's look at this equation
I am a book blogger, not a book reviewer. At least this is how I see it, book reviewers are those that really do an analysis of a book, they do a critic. That is not my style, I mainly talk about the book made me feel. Ashley at Book Nook made a whole post discussing this, which was brilliant because I had been wanting to discuss this myself for a while but didn't really know how to put it in words and she explained it all brilliantly (Her post can be found here.). My point is, I have always considered myself a Book Blogger, and I haven't exactly been acting like one. There is more to book blogging than just Reviews and Meme's. There's discussions, Read-a-longs, features, and more. I've been limiting myself without even realizing it.
I love books and reading, it is one of my biggest passions of all, which is why I made this blog, to share this passion, but there are other things I am very passionate about and that I would honestly like to share with you guys. There's music, movies, TV shows and videos I also enjoy. I am not changing the main theme of my blog, Not At All, but once in a while I'd like to share new and different things with all of you, like:
Youtube. More Youtube videos. I don't particularly enjoy showing the world my face, but there's something about me 'talking' to you guys that makes me feel more connected, and there are many emotions that I can not show just on writing - not even using Gifs. I'm really aiming to connect more with my followers and meet more people, so I will work on getting over my laziness at editing videos and just do them.
When I first started blogging I would feature songs and artist I really liked, not sure of why I stopped but I'd like to continue. There's so many bands and great songs and I'm usually discovering lots of little indie groups and artists as well as cover bands, and I think it would be pretty cool to get to share this with you guys.
This is all seriously scary. I have absolutely no idea if it'll work, I personally am not familiar with other book bloggers that feature different content, but I think it is important for me to step out of my comfort zone and make In Between a much more active blog.
I really hope this little changes are for the best and in just ten days comes my Blogoversary!!!!! Let's look at this equation
Blogoversary = Giveaway
Oh yes, me is looking forward to this, two years guys. I am so exited!
:)
Sounds like some exciting changes! I'm going to be featuring more music on my blog also. It's my other passion besides crafting & reading. I hope you find a balance that works for you!
ReplyDeleteBoy, do I understand you. I struggle with this so much. Not having enough reviews because of lack of reading time and thinking about what to do in the blog if I don't post a review. The way you deconstructed how you are gonna book blog from now on is really awesome.
ReplyDeleteWishing you the best. :)

I look forward to the changes! It's great to see you do that even if you aren't reading at the same pace. It gets hard. But to me, it is more important to be comfortable blogging than slave yourself doing it to the point that it's not enjoyable anymore. You've found a perfect solution!
ReplyDeleteSo good luck and yes to the changes! =D

Yes! Please do more 'different' book-ish posts, like discussions or random musings about books in general. Those are my absolute favorite things to read on book blogs, and not enough blogs do them.
ReplyDeleteAnd I totally feel you about reading pace. I'm at about one book every week or two, also (unless I'm reading graphic novels, in which case I can read 5-4 per week, at least), which is kind of disappointing :/
Good luck with all the changes, they sound exciting! More bookish things and discussions, I can't wait :D
