My Review:
Calla Tor has always known her destiny…and yes she has; so when Calla violates her pack’s law to save our dear Romeo- Shay Doran- there are some hard consequences to face. Shay becomes the new boy in the school Calla attends, and soon they both find themselves falling for each other. But things are never quite that simple… ‘cause our dear Calla has a future mate, one of her kind. Ren Laroche. Sexy, daredevil and cocky Ren, the alpha wolf of another pack, so by their union, its really important to unify both packs. So what does Shay mean? trouble, trouble, trouble….
The novel follows the story between Calla’s and Shay forbidden romance, and the secrets that surround the whole pack. When I first started reading the series, I was expecting a story similar to the book Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. But no, they are quite different. Shiver is more based on the relationship between the two main character, on the opposite, Nightshade does focus on their relationship, but also on the pack and how Calla fights for her freedom and her constant seeking of the truth.
The story was good. I especially liked Calla, she’s one of those badaas characters, strong, determined, and honest. In the story I struggled a LOT deciding if Calla should stay with Ren or Shay, which made it difficult to throw into the whole ‘romantic story’, but still it kept its balance. Another think I really liked about Nightshade, it’s the originality of the chapter, they start with a new moon, and continued to change to a full moon, and so on. Another pro is that Andrea Cremer didn’t made the story to predicable, there was this one time when I was like “Oh, of course she won’t do it! She simply won’t, wait, I don’t think so, she can’t….OMG! She did!!!”… yeah, something like that ^^
Conclusion: Sexy, thrilling, filled with lust, love, mystery, and seductive. Nightshade is a must read-werewolf story. Fabulous cover, great characters, and brings the werewolf world to a new level. Definitely a keeper.
"I'll help you with whatever's made you upset," he said. "But this morning you blew me off and I'm not going to kiss you today just so you can tell me to go to hell tomorrow."
Ren's eyes were sad but resigned. “And where will you go?”
I couldn’t keep the fear out of my reply. “I don’t know.”
“Please don’t do this,” he whispered. “Come back with me. We’ll talk to Logan; there has to be an explanation. The Keepers need us; we’re the alphas. We’ll figure this out. They won’t hurt you. I won’t let them."
I love it when characters do unexpected things. At least, as long as I like what it is they're actually doing :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVED LOVED this book so much when I read it and I loved Ren's character but I hated some of the decisions Calla made throughout the series but overall she is a great female protagonist. I really liked your review of this book and maybe if you would like to have a look at what I thought of this book at: http://abookparadise.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/nightshade-review.html
ReplyDeleteGreat blog by the way! Can't wait for your next post :)
